SBIA expresses support for House rural capital bill

Rural Capital Access Act would create funding opportunities for rural small businesses

WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 14, 2021) – The Small Business Investor Alliance (SBIA) is pleased to support the bipartisan legislation introduced by U.S. Reps. David Joyce (R-OH) and Jared Golden (D-ME). The “Rural Capital Access Act (H.R. 5521)” aims to increase private investment in rural small businesses. The bill is companion legislation to a Senate bill introduced in March.

“In rural areas where small businesses play a particularly vital role in job creation, it is critical to address the rural-urban gap in access to growth capital,” said SBIA President Brett Palmer. “Rural businesses need patient, more flexible capital to help them grow and support their communities. We applaud Rep. Joyce and Rep. Golden for their leadership on this issue and for drafting a bill that will facilitate more investment in rural small businesses.”
