Managing Your Fund Through Uncertain Times
Tuesday, November 12, 2020
The SBIC program has enjoyed a strong level of performance and growth. As of September 2020’s latest Debenture pooling there were 170 debenture leveraged SBICs with outstanding SBA debentures of $10.46 billion with a private capital base of $12.18 billion that have deployed over $29.4 billion into 5,830 qualified small business concerns from 2015-2019 and continued at a strong pace into 2020 until the economic slowdown occurred.
While returns have been consistently strong year over year, we collectively face challenges unparalleled in our lifetimes to include COVID 19, political uncertainly and economic stress.
Our session will feature a discussion on lessons learned from previous economic downturns from industry veterans and senior SBA staff, strategies that should be considered to manage fund operations, and provide some clarity on SBA program management and oversight that could impact SBIC funds including:
- Leverage Access
- New Commitments
- Changes in the Portfolio Company Valuations
- SBA Risk Assessment Oversight Processes
- New Fund Licensing Activity
