Kim Hammond Named Executive Director of SBIA Midwest

SBIA Enhances Private Equity Networking Across the Midwest

October 6, 2020 (Washington, D.C.) – The Small Business Investor Alliance (SBIA), the leading association for lower middle market private equity funds and investors, is pleased to announce the hiring of Kim Hammond as Executive Director of SBIA Midwest. Hammond will be based in Illinois but will support the SBIA’s members across the Midwest. She will focus on serving our member funds, institutional investors, and investment bankers across the midwestern states. Kim has extensive association experience and business experience having served as a senior level executive for various firms in finance, law, and real estate. As a trained accountant, she also worked as an independent consultant focused on accounting, taxation, human resources, and small business operations.

“Kim’s organizational expertise, combined with her industry knowledge, innate creativity and natural marketing ability, will be a huge asset to our association as we continually strive to better serve our private equity membership,” said SBIA President Brett Palmer. “As an investor-focused, member-driven organization, the ongoing growth and success of SBIA is due in large part to our ability to offer our members unparalleled service, networking opportunities and advocacy. Kim’s experience and perspective will let us take our services to the next level across the Midwest.”

SBIA offers unmatched connectivity between fund managers via our CapitaLinx platform and unmatched networking between fund managers and investment bankers via our DeaLinx platform, golf networking, and exclusive GP/LP/IB dinners. With a focus entirely on investors and not on service providers, we are able to offer exclusive networking unavailable elsewhere. SBIA also is the most effective voice for lower and middle market investing with Congress and with regulators.

“Kim is passionate about the middle market and has a gift for inspiring teams,” said Stacy Harmsen, President of the SBIA’s Midwest Committee and Senior Managing Director with Spell Capital in Minneapolis, MN. “This passion for both financial management and strategic collaboration led Kim to the SBIA. As Executive Director, this combination of contagious enthusiasm and industry knowledge will be an asset to our growing network.”

Kim belongs to the American Society of Association Executives and the Association Forum of Chicagoland. In addition, she serves on the Board of Directors of Clutch 4 Charity and as Chair of The BASE Chicago Advisory Board. Kim earned bachelor’s degrees in business administration and accounting from Saint Xavier University.

Kim enjoys mentoring young leaders, which she does professionally and in the community. She also spends as much time outdoors as possible. You will likely find her kayaking, biking, hiking, attending sporting events or just hanging out with her miniature Yorkie, Pippa.
